ARCIL 30 years

It all starts in 1976. A group of people under the directions of a father and a social welfare worker, facing a hard time raising their children, got together, create an association and present ARCIL. Someone said that at the time, all their work was always very emotive, together with the joy of different and challenging days.

Who wouldn't be moved by this project that, since then, would become one of the most important of our community?

The wish to portrait the day life of the organization was the starting point to present the faces, ideas and actions behind the project. The purpose is to report the everyday of the institution, finding its characters their habits, routines, emotions. This voyage through space and time, amongst the debris of Memory, personal and collective, reveals us the scale of colours behind the daily structure of the project.

Regarding the pictures selection, some issues were considered: personal and social variety, the multiplicity of everyday scenes, the emotional expression of the characters and the complementary issue of the tasks they perform, the intensity of the shared relationship.

Besides all this objective criterions, the photo selection also reveals an affective way of acting, through the simple mental operation of choosing those that (seemed to us) contribute for the puzzle of everyday life of the involved. This story has many heroes, some that never came out of anonymity and some that never claimed some kind of recognition.

Further more, we pay tribute to many children, men and women of different environments, with different physical and emotional conditions, whose identity is created in day-to-day life.

And this is it! But, he have to be fair. At a time when social institutions are often the only way of survival, this project intends to stimulate the dignity that the ones that "live" there deserve!
